Senior Living Communities remains the definitive guide to managing these facilities. In this thoroughly updated and revised edition, Benjamin W. Pearce offers a wealth of sound advice and practical solutions. Sincerely, Adan Lerma * Please enjoy browsing the "Look Inside" feature provided by Amazon Books for a complete list of contents and image samples. *** Over 25,500 Words and 30 Color Images Excerpt from the About page inside "Nice Thing 'Bout Getting Old(er)" Intro Though I began my blog site early in 2011, with the idea of combining my interests in the arts, with yoga and fitness, and do so from the vantage point of six decades ;-) it wasn't until my recent 61st birthday in October, that I began to realize how much of an interest I really had, in my "senior's perspective. I had already written the title article for this ebook, as a way to express that, we aren't really getting old, so much as we're getting old(er). Aging. Aging gracefully hopefully. Which is a notion expressed in two enclosed pieces, an article and a poem. Now only available in this eBook, "Nice Thing 'Bout Getting Old(er)" is an organized collection of works selected from articles I had posted last year on my website, yoga-adan.com. I've included articles and reviews and a special section on creativity. * Articles The articles, I am glad to say, have been exceptionally well received by folk of all ages. As they should be. Not because of anything I say particularly, but because the fitness and self-regard ideas are central to all of us, at any stage of our lives. Granted, the articles focus on fitness as a senior needing to recognize limitations and the need for exertion recovery, among other things; but seeing one's limitations as an opportunity to gain awareness of ourselves, would have helped me considerably when I was younger and too small for sports I would've loved to smash around in. ;-) Muscle memory, which I had only heard of via rehearsals in community theatre, when we would learn live-fake fights scenes ;-) would have been a useful idea to have explained. With examples of how it was both useful, and led to training plateaus. And how both recovery and variety would have helped me maintain fitness, and my interest in being fit. Or how, even ten minutes of continuous activity could be beneficial for me. My articles included in this eBook, give a nice starter view regarding aging and fitness, especially for us seniors. Sheila, my wife, and I have both studied through AFAA, and obtained our Group Fitness Certifications, and continue to be astonished at how much we didn't and should've known. Reviews, below, details some of the trainings and other useful material we have come across. Creativity, the final section,is really the beginning of what we can enjoy in our live. A comprehensive framework for capitalizing on the growing market for Continuing Care Retirement Communities.Senior Residences equips architects and other industry professionals with a proven executive strategy for the design and development of successful Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) projects. Using two of America's foremost CCRCs as best practice case studies, it guides readers through every critical aspect of the process, from research and planning through construction, including:The enterprise conceptFormation of an executive organizationFinancial and legal due diligenceMarketing and sales preparationResidents' expectations and requirementsHealthcare and residential servicesThe design and build processProject monitoring and assessment The over-65 population is increasing rapidly and dramatically, raising crucial concerns about the housing and care of senior citizens in the years ahead. How can we provide the best possible quality of care to the elderly? How can architects, developers, and others capitalize on the growing senior housing industry and stay competitive in the future? How can the facilities they create deliver both good service and strong financial returns? While there are no easy answers to these important questions, the Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) model has emerged as a flexible and attractive option for providing combined housing, services, and nursing care to the elderly. Senior Residences equips architects and other industry professionals with a comprehensive, three-part strategic framework for designing and developing successful CCRC projects. Part I identifies the eight critical success factors of a CCRC enterprise and illustrates them through an in-depth examination of two exemplary developments, The Cypress of South Carolina's Hilton Head Island and The Stratford in the San Francisco Peninsula. Part II details a computer-based "standard of performance" system to track progress and assess project performance. Finally, Part III examines how to use different types of research to stay on top of market trends and forecasts, legal and licensing requirements, and more. Together, the three elements of this executive strategy cover every aspect of the development process, from the initial enterprise concept and executive organization building to financial and legal due diligence, marketing and sales, residents' services and healthcare, and design and build. Readers gain essential guidance in tackling key project management issues as well as in developing effective problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Written by an author team with extensive CCRC experience, Senior Residences helps encourage avenues of thought that will lead to more cohesive, responsive, and successful CCRC projects that benefit the professionals who build them and the residents who live in them.

Any resemblance to reality - persons, places, or things - is completely accidental. You've never been to this senior retirement resort. You'll wish you had. Drive through the broken wrought-iron gate, and you'll find a leaking pool, a rundown clubhouse, and a three-hole golf course that's now a sculpture garden. Have a glass or two with the residents during their Friday night happy hour, wher the wine is served from a box, and munch on the odd chip with some cheese and salsa dip. There's plenty to talk about - the residents are no strangers to intrigue and gossip...particularly when, after someone new moves into 13b, suspicious things begin to happen there. Maybe murder and mayhem are a great way to pass the time and help these seniors going. They do always manage to keep going, making the best of advancing years and time slipping away. They may have sagging knees and flapping arms, but we love them anyway. You will too. Visit them and maybe buy a condo - there's always at least one for sale, at 13b...Author: G. W.
