Advanced Hair Removal, part of Milady's Aesthetician Series, provides a modernized approach to hair removal that dispels rumors, old wives tales, and half truths about hair growth, hair removal, and the techniques that are associated with the procedures. This text takes all of the dated information about lasers, waxing, sugaring, threading, and electrolysis and modernizes it to include the latest information available on the subject. Designed to act as a learning and teaching tool for students and instructors and a resource for practicing aestheticians, this text discusses the must-know topics of anatomy and physiology, patient interviewing, charting, techniques, and how to grow a hair removal business, and includes patient studies, photographs and recommendations for treatment. To best understand the processes of hair removal, the reader will follow several candidates through different hair removal techniques and observe the results. Documentation of treatment plans, interviewing techniques, and patient recommendations are made available to the reader. In addition, the book discusses the use of lasers, who can perform this procedure, how it works, and why it may be the single prong in the hair removal plan for a patient. With its simple, non-intimidating approach, this handbook provides the reader with advanced, updated, and need-to-know information about the hair removal process.Author: Pamela Hill, Helen Bickmore Paperback: 327 pages Company: Milady (2007-06-08) ISBN: 1401881742 List Price: $56.95 Amazon Price: $44.67 Used Price: $30.00 Author: Julius Shapiro

This econometric study covers the world outlook for women's hair removal products across more than 200 countries. For each year reported, estimates are given for the latent demand, or potential industry earnings (P.I.E.), for the country in question (in millions of U.S. dollars), the percent share the country is of the region and of the globe. These comparative benchmarks allow the reader to quickly gauge a country vis-à-vis others. Using econometric models which project fundamental economic dynamics within each country and across countries, latent demand estimates are created. This report does not discuss the specific players in the market serving the latent demand, nor specific details at the product level. The study also does not consider short-term cyclicalities that might affect realized sales. The study, therefore, is strategic in nature, taking an aggregate and long-run view, irrespective of the players or products involved. This study does not report actual sales data (which are simply unavailable, in a comparable or consistent manner in virtually all of the 230 countries of the world). This study gives, however, my estimates for the worldwide latent demand, or the P.I.E., for women's hair removal products. It also shows how the P.I.E. is divided across the world's regional and national markets. For each country, I also show my estimates of how the P.I.E. grows over time (positive or negative growth). In order to make these estimates, a multi-stage methodology was employed that is often taught in courses on international strategic planning at graduate schools of business.Author: Icon Group Paperback: 190 pages Company: ICON Group International, Inc. Letters From My Sister began with a simple letter about a bad job interview or a bad hair day, seeking comfort from hundreds of miles away. One letter plus its response became two, two became four, and four became one hundred and twenty over the course of a year in which Faye approaches college graduation in Chicago while Eve establishes her career in New York City. Through their correspondence, the Ledermans relate stories and reveal secrets in a way that only sisters can—with a raw openness and honesty derived from a lifetime of shared experiences that surpasses the bond of best friends. By exposing their foibles and fears, each reveals glimpses of real life, both silly and serious. While their stories are personal, the book’s themes are universal and offer perspective on larger issues. The sisters confront their femininity, but they are not confined by it; rather, they use it as a prism to critique many aspects of modern society. As the authors trade beauty secrets and hair removal nightmares, they simultaneously criticize the social construction of female beauty and laugh at themselves for buying into it. Faye finds a Russian waxing woman who nearly renders her bald, and Eve tracks down the eccentric inventor of the "Tweezerman" that is "so precise it can pluck in the dark." Gender roles, career choices and family relationships are all fair game, subject to intense scrutiny, and as a result, hilarity. With a biting sense of humor, the Ledermans laugh long and hard at both their successes and failures. They learn to love their silly, imperfect and often self-absorbed selves, enticing readers to do the same.
Laurie Notaro has an uncanny ability to attract insanity–and leave readers doubled over with laughter. In The Idiot Girl and the Flaming Tantrum of Death, she experiences the popular phenomenon of laser hair removal (because at least one of her chins should be stubble-free); bemoans the scourge of the Open Mouth Coughers on America’s airplanes; welcomes the newest ex-con (yay, a sex offender!) to her neighborhood; and watches, against her own better judgment, every Discovery Health Channel special on parasites and tapeworms that has ever aired–resulting in an overwhelming fear that a worm the size of a python will soon come a-knocking on her back door. The Cleveland Plain Dealer says that Laurie Notaro is “a scream, the freak-magnet of a girlfriend you can’t wait to meet for a drink to hear her latest story.” With The Idiot Girl and the Flaming Tantrum of Death, Notaro proves she’s not only funny but resigned to the fact that you can’t look bad ass in a Prius.
